The variety belongs to traditional local cultivars of folk selection, adapted to the agroclimatic conditions of northwestern Greece. The grape is included in official state registers of varieties, however, its morphological and agrobiological characteristics remain poorly studied.
Molecular genetic studies classify this grape as a non-muscat variety. At the present moment, it is considered primarily as an important genetic resource requiring further scientific study to evaluate its production potential.
