Variety description

10 August 2026

An ancient variety, mentioned in documents since the 16th century, it is a descendant of Gouais Blanc. It has a hermaphroditic flower. Bunches are medium-sized or large, weighing 300–350 g, cylindrical or cylindro-conical in shape, and medium-dense. Berries are small, golden-yellow, round or slightly oval, with thick skin.

The variety possesses high drought tolerance and resistance to grey mold, while being susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew. It adapts well to various soil types, including poor calcareous soils. Yield is estimated as high or moderate.

It is intended for the production of white wines characterized by a high alcohol content, moderate acidity, and a specific phenolic texture. The aromatic profile includes notes of peach, apple, citrus, and honey. The main cultivation zones are the Ionian Islands and the Peloponnese.
