The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and has been historically cultivated in various regions of Greece, including the Peloponnese and the islands. In official classifications, the letter "N" in the name indicates the black color of the berries, and there is also a white-berried variety of the cultivar called Voidomatis Aspros.

The grape is valued by winemakers for its intense coloring properties. The berries are characterized by low acidity, and sugar content levels can vary, in some cases amounting to approximately 14.4% on the Brix scale. The variety is considered rare, and detailed agrobiological characteristics, such as winter hardiness and disease resistance, are not presented in open sources.
