The productivity of tall fescue is determined by the yield of green mass, dry matter, and seeds, as well as the output of feed units, digestible protein, and metabolizable energy. Under irrigated conditions, green mass yield ranges from 12.3 to 33.1 t/ha, and dry matter yield reaches 11–17 t/ha. Seed yield in a combined-use stand varies between 400–700 kg/ha.
The crop is capable of maintaining high productivity in one location for up to 5–7 years; however, a consistent decline in this indicator is observed by the 5th–6th year of growth. The intensity of yield formation is critically dependent on irrigation regimes and nitrogen nutrition levels. High productivity allows for a combined use system, pairing seed harvesting with subsequent biomass cutting.
