Green manure — White clover

The morphological feature of white clover is the presence of creeping stems that root at the nodes, creating a protective plant mat. Its root system is primarily located in the arable layer at a depth of 30–50 cm, which ensures topsoil loosening and protection against erosion.

Unlike annual green manures or red clover, this species is intended for long-term use over 2–5 years. It is less demanding of environmental conditions and possesses high resistance to frequent mowing, though it accumulates less nitrogen compared to upright legume crops.

The use of white clover is most effective in grass mixtures, where it serves as a nitrogen source for the grass component. Due to its low-growing form and perennial nature, this crop is not considered a fast-growing catch crop that requires annual incorporation into the soil.
