The variety is a hybrid of European chestnut (Castanea sativa) and Japanese chestnut (Castanea crenata), bred from the parental forms Sardonne and the CA 04 line. The tree is characterized by moderately strong growth vigor and a semi-upright crown shape. The variety is male fertile, however, cross-pollination with suitable pollinator varieties is recommended to improve fruit set.
The nuts are large or very large, elliptical in shape with a shiny brown shell. The variety is late-maturing, with ripening occurring from October 12 to October 27. It comes into bearing relatively quickly. The kernels are sweet, with a mild nutty flavor and good peelability, which makes them suitable for both fresh consumption and industrial processing.
