The tree is characterized by medium to strong vigor, a semi-upright canopy, and a relatively slow onset of bearing. The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinator trees of the species Castanea sativa.
The fruits have a large caliber, an elongated-elliptical ribbed shape, and a red-chestnut color with distinct stripes. The flesh has a sweet taste, and the fruits store well.
The variety is highly susceptible to leaf rust and requires the use of rootstocks resistant to ink disease. The crop shows the best results in the conditions of its region of origin in France.
