Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is mid-season; fruit ripening occurs in October. An adult tree reaches a height of 8–15 meters. The fruits are reddish-brown in color and are distinguished by the fact that each burr usually forms one large nut rather than several small ones.

Grafted trees begin to bear fruit 3–5 years after planting. The variety is considered self-fertile, but yields increase with cross-pollination. The tree withstands temperatures down to -15°C...-23°C, prefers acidic or neutral well-drained soils, and does not tolerate calcareous soils.

The fruits of this variety are highly valued in cooking for their taste qualities. They are consumed roasted and used for making chestnut puree and the dessert marron glacé.
