The variety is a seedling selected in 1921. In horticulture, it is valued as a rootstock due to the high germination rate of its seeds and the production of uniform seedlings; it also possesses good compatibility with most peach and nectarine varieties.

The variety is not a hybrid of Prunus davidiana and Prunus persica. Mentions of both species in the same publications are related to the use of Prunus davidiana in breeding programs or comparative studies of these samples as different types of rootstocks.
