MARIANA 2624 is a semi-dwarf rootstock reaching a height of 3–4.5 meters. It demonstrates good compatibility with many plum and apricot varieties, but is incompatible with peach and nectarine; difficulties are also encountered when grafting almond.

The plant possesses high resistance to root-knot nematodes, Armillaria root rot, crown gall, and Phytophthora root and crown rot. The variety tolerates heavy, wet, and saline soils well. Disadvantages include vigorous root suckering, a shallow root system, susceptibility to bacterial canker, and the risk of developing peach graft union necrosis.
