The shrub has a spreading or rounded shape and reaches a height of 1 to 1.5 meters. The leaves are lanceolate, colored medium green in summer with a possible purple hue, turning purple in autumn.
The inflorescences are flat, lacecap-type corymbs with a diameter of 12–15 cm, consisting of small fertile and large sterile flowers. The color varies from pink to dark pink, and becomes blue-violet in acidic soils. The flowering period lasts from June or July to October.
The variety prefers fertile, moist, and well-drained soils with an acidic environment (pH around 5.0) and sunny or semi-shaded locations. Frost resistance is estimated in the range of –17 to –23°C; the plant requires covering in regions with severe winters.
