The variety is of ancient origin, presumably linked to monastic gardening. The name "Smerfenten" indicates the tendency of the fruit skin to become greasy during storage. Currently, the variety is a rare subject of biodiversity conservation; its propagation is carried out by grafting scions from old trees.
The fruits have a broadly round or round-conical shape, sometimes slightly ribbed at the stem. Harvest maturity occurs in September; the fruits are suitable for consumption until November-December. Detailed agrotechnical characteristics of the variety are absent in open publications.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
