The rootstock belongs to the group of dwarf rootstocks. Its vigor is similar to other clones of the M.9 group, for example, M.9 T 337, however, the final height of the trees may vary depending on the characteristics of the scion variety. The use of this rootstock promotes early onset of bearing and high yields.
The plant is characterized by low winter hardiness, which must be taken into account when choosing a planting site. The rootstock was obtained as a clone of East Malling selection, and the name indicates its propagation in the German nursery Burgmer. In commercial horticulture, it is used exclusively as a base for grafting apple varieties.
