The rootstock was developed by crossing the Northern Spy and M.2 varieties. In commercial orcharding, trees grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by vigorous growth, which may affect the rate of entry into bearing and yield levels compared to dwarf counterparts.
The plant possesses specific resistance to woolly apple aphid and Phytophthora collar rot. Tolerance to soil exhaustion is also noted. When using appropriate crown training systems, the rootstock can be used in intensive orcharding.
