The rootstock was developed in Michurinsk by Professor V. I. Budagovsky. Depending on growing conditions and budding height, the plant is classified as dwarf or semi-dwarf, and trees grafted onto it typically reach a height of 2–3 meters.
The root system of the rootstock possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding soil temperatures down to -16°C, and high drought tolerance. High resistance to scab is noted. Due to the brittleness of the wood, trees on this rootstock often require the use of supports.
