The variety is of Italian origin and has a genetic link to the Ascolana Semitenera variety. The tree is evergreen, reaching a height of 4.5–6 meters with a crown width of 3–4.5 meters. The variety is characterized as late-flowering.

The plant belongs to polyclonal varieties, which determines the heterogeneity of fruit characteristics. Under industrial cultivation conditions, the variety's specific response to water stress is taken into account for irrigation planning. The variety should be distinguished from the table variety Ascolana Tenera.
