Variety description

10 August 2026

The ASPIRINA variety, also known as Sprina, is a vigorous tree with an upright crown and drooping branches. The plant is characterized by a self-incompatible flowering type, stable high productivity, and a mid-late fruit ripening period, which concludes by December.

The fruits are large, weighing about 3 grams, and have a spherical shape with a subconical apex. The variety shows resistance to sudden temperature changes and olive knot, but is susceptible to infestation by the olive fruit fly and the fungal disease peacock spot.

This variety is the result of centuries of folk selection in the foothills of the Caserta and Benevento provinces. It is currently classified as rare and is at risk of extinction.
