The variety is a historical local population from the Alpes-Maritimes region. In modern agriculture, it is not used as a main commercial variety, but plays an auxiliary role, with its share in plantings with a protected designation of origin limited to 5% of the total number of trees.

The plant is characterized by sensitivity to frost. The fruits of the variety are medium-sized and green. The oil obtained from this variety is distinguished by its high quality.

The variety has the synonym Plant d'Antibes and is often mentioned along with other traditional varieties of the region, such as Arabanier, Blavet, Nostral, and Ribeyrou.
