In several sources, Blancal is mentioned as a synonym for the Arbequina variety. It is characterized by medium-low vigor, a weeping crown shape, and good adaptability to intensive planting. The variety is noted for early bearing, high yield, and small fruits. The resulting oil is of high quality but has low oxidative stability; the tree possesses high winter hardiness.

As an independent autochthonous variety of the Somontano region, Blancal consists of trees with large trunks and a characteristic light shade of bark. This early-maturing variety is characterized by low yield. The fruits are used as table olives and for the production of single-varietal oil, which is distinguished by a mild, sweet taste and intense aroma.
