The variety is considered ancient, with its cultivation in the Caiazzo area documented since the 15th century. The plant is characterized by upright growth, with fruit-bearing branches drooping under the weight of the crop. The tree bears fruit annually.
The fruits are oval-shaped and medium-sized. At full maturity, they acquire an intense black or purple-black color with pigmentation of the flesh reaching the pit. Harvesting begins in early October.
The variety is used both for the production of olive oil with a fruity aroma and low acidity levels, and as a table product. The olives are valued for their meaty texture, delicate taste, and suitability for brining or baking.
