The variety is characterized by high vigor and an upright, sparse canopy. Leaves are short, narrow, and pointed. Small fruits weighing about 2.1–2.2 g change color from yellow-green to wine-red upon ripening, rarely becoming completely black.
It is a mid-early variety with a ripening period of about 180 days after flowering. It possesses resistance to drought, wind, winter cold, bacterial knot, and partially to olive fruit fly, but is sensitive to peacock spot. It is often used as a pollinator for other varieties.
The oil is distinguished by a high polyphenol content (up to 680 mg/kg), pronounced pungency, intense bitterness, and light sweetness.
