The name «Domaća», which translates as «domestic» or «local», is used in Croatia, Montenegro and neighboring regions as a general designation for local olive varieties. Various biological cultivars, such as Oblica, Žutica or Drobnica, possessing their own unique characteristics, may be hidden under this name.
These plants are the result of folk selection and centuries of natural selection in the conditions of specific microlocations. Due to the lack of a unified botanical description, agronomic traits, such as yield, fruit size or purpose, depend entirely on which specific variety is implied by this local name in each individual case.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
