The variety is an autochthon of the Calabria region and is used primarily for olive oil production. The tree is characterized by significant size and good vigor. The fruits are small, with an average weight of about 2 grams, and have a round shape.

The variety belongs to the late maturity group: color change of the fruits begins at the end of October, and technical maturity is reached after December 15. The crop is characterized by alternate bearing and high acclimatization capacity.

The resulting oil is characterized by a delicate taste with a light or medium fruity aroma, containing notes of almond, freshly cut grass, artichoke, and green apple. For harvesting, the mechanized method is most effective during the period of full fruit maturity.
