The Ronde de Villeneuve-de-Berg variety is a local historical olive tree type that formed in the vicinity of the town of Villeneuve-de-Berg. Currently, it is rare, found mainly in old olive groves that survived the frosts of 1956 and in specialized genetic collections.

Genetically, the variety was characterized using microsatellite markers during the creation of reference genotypes. From an agronomic point of view, the plant is self-sterile, which makes the selection of pollinator varieties mandatory to ensure yield.
