The ROSCIOLA GENTILE variety is a local traditional ecotype of Italy, grown in the Molise and Puglia regions. It is not a product of breeding work and is preserved as part of the genetic diversity of olive trees.
The purpose of the variety is the production of olive oil, often in blends, although in some cases it can also be used as a table variety. Studies of the chemical composition indicate a high content of vitamin E, in which about 98–99% is alpha-tocopherol.
In the course of phytopathological studies, the variety showed susceptibility to the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, which causes quick decline syndrome. Specific data on yield and morphological parameters of the plant are limited, as the variety belongs to the minor category.
