The variety is an autochthonous genotype cultivated for centuries in old olive groves of Italy. The fruits of this variety are characterized by a medium to above-average size of the pit and the fruit itself, and the primary purpose of the harvest is canning and pickling.

The oil obtained from these olives is characterized by a high content of oleic acid and low levels of palmitic and linoleic acids. Currently, the variety is being studied within the framework of projects for the conservation of rare olive germplasm as a significant biodiversity resource.
