The Sessana variety (synonyms: Sessanella, Licinia, Cicinella) is a local genotype adapted to the volcanic soils of the Campania region. The fruits of this variety have a pronounced rounded shape, and their ripening period is classified as medium.
The oil obtained from these fruits is characterized by a balanced taste with notes of artichoke and almond, as well as a color ranging from straw yellow to green. The oil yield during processing is approximately 25%.
The variety demonstrates high resistance to peacock spot and shows signs of resistance to the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, however, it is susceptible to olive fruit fly infestation.
