Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree is characterized by low vigor and a sparse, weeping crown shape. During ripening, the fruit changes color from green to red; the skin has slight bloom and small lenticels.

The primary purpose of the variety is oil processing; the oil is prized for its excellent quality and is permitted for production under the Chianti Classico DOP protected designation. Due to the flesh-to-pit ratio, the fruit can also be used as table olives.

The variety is a traditional local genotype (landrace) found in olive groves in the provinces of Siena, Florence, Pisa, and Livorno. Registration in Italian national registers confirms its status as a local genetic resource.
