The variety is autochthonous to the Bouches-du-Rhône region. The fruits are oblong, slightly convex on one side, and acquire a reddish hue upon ripening. A distinctive feature is the very small size of the stone.

The variety is characterized as undemanding and prolific. It is classified as universal: the fruits are suitable for brining and canning, while it is also possible to obtain good quality oil from them. Specialized databases note variations in leaf size, which may indicate the presence of intra-varietal forms.
