The name is often identified with the variety Cellina di Nardò. The tree has high vigor, an upright habit, and a dense crown. The variety is characterized by regular, high yields. The fruits are small, elliptical in shape, and their oil content is about 15–17%. The oil is characterized by notes of grass, almond, and tomato, with a pronounced bitterness and pungency.
The plant is versatile and suitable for both oil production and canning. The variety has adaptability to various conditions, but has low resistance to the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. In some commercial catalogs, local clones with different fruit characteristics not confirmed by official breeding data may be offered under this name.
