The Sessanella variety, also known by the names Sessana, Licinia or Cicinella, originates from the province of Caserta. The tree has high vigor. The fruit is characterized by a rounded, slightly elongated shape. The period of the onset of fruit color change is medium.
The variety is highly productive, with an oil yield of about 25%. The plant has high resistance to the fungal disease Spilocaea oleaginea (peacock spot), but exhibits sensitivity to the olive fruit fly.
The resulting oil has a low acidity level, not exceeding 0.60%, and is characterized by a high polyphenol content. The color of the product varies from straw yellow to intense green, and the taste possesses notes of bitterness and pungency.
