The Northstar variety tree is distinguished by its compactness, weak vigor, and a dense broad-rounded crown with thin branches. The variety is characterized by very early entry into fruiting, beginning to produce a harvest as early as the second year after planting, and bears fruit on short shoots.

The plant possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding temperature drops down to -30°C, as well as relative resistance to coccomycosis and spring frosts. The variety is self-fertile.

The fruits are medium to small in size, weighing about 4.5 g, and have a round, slightly flattened shape. The dark red shiny skin covers juicy, sweet-and-sour flesh of a similar color. The harvest ripens in early July and is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and desserts.
