The Ramassin group varieties are an autochthonous crop of Piedmont. The fruits are very small, weighing 10–15 g, oval-shaped, colored from amber-yellow to dark purple with a thick waxy bloom. The flesh is sweet, aromatic, and separates easily from the stone. The fruits are used fresh, as well as for making jams, syrups, and tinctures.
The trees have high vigor and resistance to frosts down to -25 °C, capable of adapting to difficult soils at an altitude of up to 1200 m. The plants are undemanding, requiring practically no special agronomic practices or phytosanitary treatments. Harvesting takes place from mid-July to the end of August; because the ripe fruits drop, they are often collected from the ground.
