The variety was discovered in France in 1760 and has many synonyms, including Pastorčica, Popovača, Kantarka, Le Cure, Poire de Clion, and Pastorenbirne. The tree is characterized as vigorous and is distinguished by its longevity; furthermore, the variety is considered one of the least demanding regarding soil and climatic conditions.

Fruits weighing from 200 to 350 g have an oblong-pyriform shape and firm greenish-yellow skin with a characteristic longitudinal line. The flesh is white, juicy, with a pleasant aroma. Ripening occurs in early October; the fruits have good keeping quality and provide a regular, abundant yield.
