The variety is the result of breeding work carried out at the Institute of Horticulture in Dobele. The fruit crop is adapted for cultivation in the Latvian climate and is included in the country's official cultivar registry.
The variety is characterized by a later fruit ripening period compared to summer and early autumn varieties. Breeding trials are studying the tree's winter hardiness, as well as the fruits' resistance to fungal diseases, including pear rust.
