The variety belongs to the group of early-ripening pears with a maturation period in June. It is an old local variety of Italian origin.

In agriculture, it is used as a genetic resource and a parental component for developing new varieties, particularly in crosses with the Coscia variety. It is being studied in the context of resistance to psyllids of the genus Cacopsylla.
