The PORTUXESAS variety is an object of regional genetic diversity of pear. In scientific literature, it is considered in the context of studying populations growing in the Canary Islands and has a genetic link with pear varieties of the Galician region of Spain.

Within the framework of molecular genetic analysis using SSR-markers, the variety is classified as a distinct genotype. Detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant and descriptions of the fruits are absent in open scientific publications.
