The tree is characterized by moderate growth, reaching a height of about 5 meters. The crown is natural, broad pyramidal, sometimes irregularly shaped, with thin drooping branches prone to wood exposure. The variety is hardy, but sensitive to scab and fire blight; the fruits are susceptible to strong wind.
Fruits are medium to large in size, conical or pyriform, sometimes lumpy. The skin is dry, rough, and turns golden-yellow with an orange-red blush and russeting upon ripening. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy, melting, and prone to becoming mealy when overripe.
The variety is an autumn one: harvest maturity occurs at the end of September, consumer maturity in October–November. It is a valuable dessert variety, suitable for fresh consumption, processing into wine, and cultivation in espalier form.
