Variety description

10 August 2026

The Poire de Grise variety, also known as Poire de Notre-Dame, is a traditional variety preserved to maintain genetic diversity. It is an old peasant variety that does not belong to products of modern artificial selection.

The fruits are medium-sized, have brown rough skin, and are intended for cooking or baking. Harvesting begins from mid-September, however, the fruits are prone to rapid core rot and require prompt processing or consumption.

The tree is distinguished by winter hardiness and is grown exclusively in the form of standard trees. The variety shows moderate susceptibility to scab.
