The variety is an old folk cultivar historically distributed through informal channels. It was included in the fruit crop genetic diversity conservation program (RGF-Gblx) in Belgium to prevent extinction.
The plant is adapted to the conditions of the Ardennes and similar soil and climatic characteristics. The variety is characterized as very susceptible to diseases.
