The variety is of Flemish origin and appeared at the end of the 18th century. There is a version that it was bred by the abbot of the abbey in Denderwindeke or his gardener Jef Thibaut. Later, the variety was distributed under the name Beurré Chaboceau.
Detailed agronomic descriptions, such as maturity group, disease resistance, or fruit quality characteristics, are absent in modern databases. The variety is not widely distributed or industrial.
