The variety is a rare local form historically discovered in the Iserlohn area. It is currently considered to be endangered and is included in programs for the monitoring and conservation of genetic resources.

The fruits are not suitable for use as table fruit due to their pronounced astringency. The variety is characterized as a vigorously growing industrial pear, whose fruits are suitable for culinary processing and the production of fruit distillates.
