EST. PRODUCTIVO DE DANILO CHRISTEN
10 August 2026
A summer ripening variety with fruit for universal use: for fresh consumption, drying, and the production of compotes, jams, and distillates. The harvest is collected in the first half of August; the consumption period for the fruit is about 14 days.
The tree is vigorous, over 10 meters tall, with a funnel-shaped crown. It enters into bearing in the 5–8th year and is distinguished by high longevity, exceeding 100 years on vigorous rootstocks. The variety is demanding of soil conditions, prefers deep clay soils, and does not tolerate excessively wet areas.
The fruit is large, pear-shaped, with smooth light green or yellow-green skin. The flesh is soft and juicy, possessing a taste with slight astringency. The variety is characterized by high susceptibility to scab and low susceptibility to moniliosis.
The variety is known by the synonyms Madamka, Královna, Franzmadam, Windsor Pear, Windsorbirne. It is an old and locally significant variety, rarely used in modern industrial fruit growing.
