The variety is a clonal mutation of the 'Williams' pear and is identified with such forms as 'Williams Rouge Delbard' or 'Max Red Bartlett'. Trees are medium-sized, with a broad-pyramidal or rounded-pyramidal crown, entering fruit-bearing in the 2nd–3rd year.

The fruits have a classic pear shape and a weight from 170 to 270 g. The skin becomes dark burgundy or bright red upon ripening. The flesh is cream-colored, tender and juicy, with a muscat aroma. The harvest ripens in late August — early September.

The variety possesses medium winter hardiness and good disease resistance. Agrotechnical requirements are similar to the 'Williams' variety; when grown on dwarf rootstocks, the trees require support.
