The Samir variety belongs to the species spelt (Triticum aestivum subsp. spelta). It is intended for use in agriculture, in particular, it is oriented toward the needs of ecological and biodynamic farming.

In comparative studies, the variety is considered susceptible to Fusarium head blight. Data on susceptibility to common bunt during field trials have also been recorded in literature.
