The variety is a natural hybrid originating from the Gâtinais region. The vines have medium vigor and are prone to early bud burst, which increases the risk of damage from spring frosts. The variety is sensitive to powdery mildew, gray mold, and sour rot, while showing medium resistance to downy mildew and black rot.

The clusters are dense, cylindrical or cylindro-conical in shape. The berries are medium-sized, round or ellipsoid, changing color from greenish-yellow to golden, sometimes with brown spots. A somatic mutation with reddish berries exists — Meslier Rose.

A wine grape variety used for the production of wines and spirits, such as Cognac and Armagnac. The wines have a pronounced acidity and a neutral profile, therefore they are more often used in blends or mixed plantings.
