Variety description

The variety is a periclinal chimera known since the 16th century. The name comes from the French word for "miller" due to the dense white pubescence on the underside of the leaves and young shoots, resembling flour dust. The plant is medium-vigorous, with five-lobed leaves.

The clusters are small or medium, weighing about 120 g, dense, and cylindrical-conical in shape. The berries are dark blue, small, weighing 1.4 g, with thin skin. The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness down to -20.5°C, resistance to spring frosts and phylloxera, with medium susceptibility to major fungal diseases.

A wine variety, one of the key components for the production of champagne, also used in the creation of red and rosé still wines. Wines from this variety possess fruit notes, a soft texture, and balanced acidity, adding roundness to blends and accelerating the maturation process.
