The Graciano variety, known in France as Morrastel, is an autochthonous variety of Spanish origin with a late maturity group. It is characterized by low yield, high acidity, intense aroma, and tannin content, which is why it is used to create wines with aging potential.

The Morrastel Bouschet variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing Graciano and Petit Bouschet. It belongs to the category of teinturier grape varieties intended to give wines an intense color, and it is distinguished by high susceptibility to downy mildew.

The name Morrastel is often mistakenly identified with the Monastrell variety, also known as Mourvèdre. Genetically, these varieties are different, and the confusion arises solely due to inaccuracies in historical documentation and ampelographic descriptions.
