The variety is a descendant of a natural cross between the Macabeo variety and an unknown variety. The vines are characterized by high vigor. The leaf is large, round or wedge-shaped, 5- or 7-lobed, with a closed petiolar sinus and weak or medium pubescence on the underside.

The bunch is very large, cylindro-conical, medium-dense or dense. The berries are large, round, dark blue, almost black in color, and covered with a thick bloom. The skin is of medium thickness, the pulp is fleshy and juicy, and the taste is neutral.

The variety is moderately sensitive to powdery mildew and sour rot, and shows susceptibility to gray mold. It is used for the production of red and rosé wines, including in blends.
