The name Fior d'Arancio ('orange blossom') is a synonym for the Moscato Giallo variety adopted in the Euganean Hills area. The naming originated in the early 20th century due to the characteristic aroma of the berries, which resembled the scent of orange blossoms.
Moscato Giallo is a vigorous, early-mid-season ripening variety. It has moderate susceptibility to fungal diseases, but is resistant to frosts. It shows the best results on loose calcareous and volcanic soils in hilly terrain.
The berries of the variety have a thick skin and are capable of accumulating a significant amount of sugar. The grapes are used in winemaking for the production of aromatic sparkling, dry, and dessert wines with notes of orange blossom, citrus, peach, apricot, and honey.
